SMART will be implementing a pilot transit service that will operate between Lawson Hill and the Mountain Village Core, including a stop at the Mountain Village Town Hall/Market. This service is intended to provide a transit option for people who:
- Live in Lawson Hill and work in the primary employment centers of Mountain Village.
- Commute on SMART routes from Nucla, Naturita, Norwood or Down Valley and work in Mountain Village.
- Work in Mountain Village and would like to take advantage of the free parking at the Lawson Hill Park & Ride.
- Live in Mountain Village and would like to catch the Durango to Grand Junction CDOT Bustang with stops at the Lawson Hill Park & Ride.
This service will be timed for transfers at the Lawson Hill Park & Ride with existing SMART regional routes and will provide a more direct option to Mountain Village rather than going into Telluride and taking the gondola. If during the pilot period we see enough ridership, this service will become permanent. Please ride this free service! Our goal is to enhance transportation options throughout the region to provide you with convenient service to reduce your travel costs, parking issues, pollution and congestion in the valley.
